Considering underlying populations and distribution the adapted ranking changes substantially led by South Korea (1101,62 procedures per 100000 capita), followed by Brazil (942,52 procedures per 100000 capita), and Colombia (777,43 procedures per 100000 capita). Further, it was found that the rate of surgical procedures per surgeon shows great regional variation.

Abstract: Two-Stage Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction is Safer Than Immediate One-Stage Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction Augmented with an Acellular Dermal Matrix: A Multicentre Randomized Controlled Trial
Methods: Following approval by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Institutional Review Board, a retrospective review was performed identifying patients who underwent unilateral breast reconstruction using a double pedicle DIEP flap by a single two-surgeon team. Data was collected on patient characteristics, pre-operative risk factors, and post-operative complications. Data was analyzed...
متن کاملThe Multi Centre Canadian Acellular Dermal Matrix Trial (MCCAT): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial in implant-based breast reconstruction
BACKGROUND The two-stage tissue expander/implant (TE/I) reconstruction is currently the gold standard method of implant-based immediate breast reconstruction in North America. Recently, however, there have been numerous case series describing the use of one-stage direct to implant reconstruction with the aid of acellular dermal matrix (ADM). In order to rigorously investigate the novel applicat...
متن کاملImmediate Implant-based Prepectoral Breast Reconstruction Using a Vertical Incision
BACKGROUND Ideally, breast reconstruction is performed at the time of mastectomy in a single stage with minimal scarring. However, postoperative complications with direct-to-implant subpectoral reconstruction remain significant. These include asymmetry, flap necrosis, animation deformity, and discomfort. We report on a series of patients who have undergone immediate single-stage prepectoral, im...
متن کاملAbstract: Adipofascial Flap Versus ADM: An Intraoperative Selection Algorithm for Implant Coverage in Immediate Breast Reconstruction
PurPoSe: Acellular dermal matrix (ADM) has gained popularity to enhance lower pole coverage in immediate implant or expander reconstruction. Advantages of ADM include improved rapid reconstruction, postoperative expander filling and lower capsular contracture. Potential trade-offs include higher seroma, infection and cost. Alternatives for implant coverage include local fascial flaps and inferi...
متن کاملOne-stage immediate breast reconstruction with implants: a new option for immediate reconstruction.
BACKGROUND The current standard of care for breast implant reconstruction after mastectomy is 2-stage reconstruction with placement of tissue expanders followed by implants. The immediate use of implants at the time of mastectomy, which eliminates the need for a second operative procedure, has been sparsely reported and is not yet accepted as the standard of care. This study describes a 1-stage...
